Jazz Fest Jubilation

We're as happy as this guy.

Hello again Internet,

Just in time for the 40th-ish annual New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, we at Glasgow have some crazy, fun, and exciting things going on.

FIRSTLY: Our very own Alexis Marceaux will be performing with her own band at the Lagniappe Stage at 12:35pm Friday April 23rd (Click here for a full schedule of that day at the Fest).

SECONDLY: Glasgow proper will be hitting the streets a few nights during the Festival, including playing Le Maison on Saturday April 24th w/ Silent Cinema (tix here, Facebook event here) and May 2 at Circle Bar with Vox and the Hound.

LAST AND MOST CRITICALLY: As you might have heard, Glasgow will be opening for Strokes frontman Julian Casablancas at Republic on April 29th. YEAH YOU RIGHT.

So, no matter what, whether you like it or not, we'll see you out there, somewhere.

Post SXSW, Spring has Sprung

Boy, SXSW this year sure was a hoot. We got to hang out with famous people and play in some of the coolest places on Earth. In the aftermath, we've been busy keeping up with new friends we made out there and exploiting (benevolently, of course) our new contacts.

We've got some exciting upcoming events. On Friday, April 2, we'll be rocking the roof off the Dragon's Den alongside carnival freaks Dirty Bourbon River Show and Houston's finest Wild Moccasins. The madness begins at 10pm.

Then, on April 16, we're going to be doing a STAR WARS-themed show at Republic New Orleans (!!). More on that to come. We can hardly handle the anticip...

THEN, we'll be doing a couple Jazz Fest night shows, one at Maison on Frenchmen St. on April 24th, and another at Circle Bar on May 2. These will feature a ton of insanely great talent. We'll be blogging about them individually closer to show time. VERY EXCITING STUFF.

FINALLY, we plan to embark on an East Coast tour at the end of May. We're going up to New York and back, making many stops on our way. Details still in the works.

We've been getting more into this twitter business. "Follow" us, if you'd like. See how I used the jargon there? That's what you're supposed to say: "Follow". Yeah. @Glasgowband is our name on there. So go "tweet" something about us, maybe. See? I did it again. No big deal.

Fests, Fests, East and West

Internet!

We've just gotten rested up from our weekend in Lafayette, where we had a grand time rocking the Artmosphere as part of the second ever Geronimo Festival. There was a great turnout and absolutely perfect weather. Couldn't have asked for a better Saturday.

Next, we are revving up for an event that will certainly find its way into the annals (heh) of New Orleans' musical history, Foburg Fest. It's going to be a 3-day extravaganza (March 12-14), 90+ bands, 10+ venues, and way too much fun for one weekend. Foburg serves as a pre-SXSW platform to route SXSW-bound bands through New Orleans. It will also help acquaint penny-ante New Orleans mistrels like us with seasoned national acts. We'll be headlining the Blue Nile Upstairs on Saturday, 3/13.

FINALLY, we'll be spending most of next week at the illustrious SXSW Conference and Festival, mostly because Glasgow is playing at Agave on March 17 (1:00pm) and at House of Commons on March 18 (7:30pm), all in wonderful Austin, TX.
